  9. SCSI Startup without this documentation. Please do not modify this document.

  11. REGISTERING SCSI STARTUP AND THE 7.0 PLUS UTILITIES
  12. ===================================================
  13. SCSI Startup is not free. Sites using this software in business MUST
  14. register it. Contact the author for site licensing information. If it is for
  15. personal use only, please send a few dollars. Or you can consider the
  16. following.

  18. 7.0 PLUS Utilities is a package of all (more than 25) System 7.0 utilities
  19. I have written. You can get the disk with all of them NOW (not wait until
  20. I decide to upload the next program) by sending $29.95 to me. This will
  21. register you for all the software, will get you a disk of the software, and
  22. an update to the PLUS Utilities when it rolls around. It’s a pretty good
  23. deal. You should register your software, anyway, so why not do it
  24. like this? And it’s a lot cheaper this way.

  30. USING SCSI STARTUP
  31. ===================

  36. What Does SCSI Startup Do?
  37. -------------------------
  38. •  SCSI Startup, a drag-and-drop utility (Drop Box), sets the current startup
  39.     disk to be the selected SCSI drive. Normally you have to open the Startup
  40.     Disk Control Panel to change the startup disk. But now you can simply
  41.     drag a disk icon over the application in the Finder, and it will be the new
  42.     startup drive.

  44. Using SCSI Startup
  45. -----------------
  46. •  Drag the icon of the desired startup SCSI drive over SCSI Startup and let
  47.     go, just as you would drag a file into a folder. The selected SCSI disk
  48.     will be set to be the startup disk.

  50. •  Floppies and other non-SCSI devices cannot be set to be the startup SCSI
  51.     disk.

  53. •  Only disks dragged over the icon will be processed. If you drag any other
  54.     item into the application, it will be ignored.
  55.  
  56. •  You cannot set a remote SCSI device to be the startup disk with SCSI Startup.
  57.  
  58. •  Dragging an alias of a disk is treated the same way dragging the actual
  59.     disk (the target of the alias) into SCSI Startup would be. So dragging an alias
  60.     of the startup disk you want will work properly.

  62. •  Double-click on SCSI Startup to see the about box information.

  64. USING DROP BOXES
  65. =================
  66. Drop Boxes are applications (drag-and-drop utilities) which can take advantage
  67. of System 7.0’s Apple Events. To use them, just drag a file over the application
  68. icon just as you would drag a file over a folder to move it into that directory.
  69. The Drop Box is then opened and processing is done. The program then quits.
  70. You can also throw in whole directories and disks. You don’t have to throw in
  71. just one, either. Select a whole bunch of files, directories, or disks, or any
  72. combination of the three, and dump them in. The Drop Box will scan for
  73. files of the required type and modify them accordingly. All files in all
  74. directories within those dropped in will be modified. Any aliases dropped
  75. directly into a Drop Box (not inside a directory) are resolved by the Finder
  76. and thus their target (parent) is modified.
